Across the university, data stewards, technical RDM experts, researchers and data managers have joined forces to form the RUB Network for Research Data Management, which is coordinated by the RDS team. The aim is to exchange ideas, pool expertise, and promote the further development of research data management structures at RUB.
Research Data Management
Research data management (“Forschungsdatenmanagement”, FDM) is an integral part of every research project. At Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), researchers rely on sustainable and strong infrastructures for handling their research data.
Structured organization, storage, documentation, and provision of data not only saves time and resources, but also increases the reusability of research results. In this important part of their work, researchers at RUB are provided with guidelines and expert support in their role as research data managers.
The Research Data Services (RDS) Team is the first point of contact at RUB for the planning of data structures, software solutions and the adaptation of existing systems to the respective needs.
Established programs and tools for data storage make it possible for
- data to be well documented throughout the entire research process and to remain accessible, traceable, and reusable even years later, even by future generations of researchers.
