If you want to support a specific topic in the long term or get more involved in project work yourself, you can set up an endowment fund or a trust foundation under the umbrella of the Ruhr University Bochum Foundation. Your endowed assets will be permanently preserved and professionally invested. The income generated will benefit the purpose of the foundation.

Humanity - Our foundation particularly promotes personal commitment
Even in such a large university, we can think and act humanely. We know that it is important to think in terms of people, not institutions. Every member of the university must constantly remind themselves: Do you think and act according to this maxim - or against it? Research funding, curriculum development, the relationship between administration and research and teaching - all decision-making processes are subject to the imperative of humanity.

Cosmopolitanism - Our foundation promotes the cosmopolitanism of Ruhr University Bochum
Society and the university thrive on diversity. We are open to diversity and do not want to level out cultural differences, but rather make them productive. The discourse between different people not only creates understanding for other people, but also a gain in knowledge.

High performance - our foundation promotes outstanding ideas and achievements
What makes our society productive? Knowledge, a thirst for knowledge and maturity are worth more than material values. Our university should be a place where a sustainable society of tomorrow is conceived. This undoubtedly includes performance, but it must not be limited to "faster-higher-further". We understand performance as the joy of the new, the joy of the different, the joy of moving things forward.

The students and members of the Ruhr University Bochum contribute their diverse experiences to the continuous development of the university. Our foundation identifies with Ruhr University Bochum and its values. The active cooperation of all members across disciplinary and other boundaries as well as the pronounced sense for trying out new things characterize our university. The unity of research and teaching is a particular concern. Research linked to teaching and research-based teaching and studying are the foundation of our university identity.

Promotion

What we promote
The main aim is to support projects or events that are aimed at a broad, public audience and thus attract attention far beyond the Ruhr-Universität campus. At the same time, the projects should be characterized by something extraordinary and special.

Who we support
According to its statutes, the Ruhr University Bochum Foundation may only support projects that are related to the Ruhr University Bochum (Ruhr University Bochum).

When do we support
The funds are distributed several times a year: You can submit your application either by April 28, 2023 or by October 1, 2023. The Ruhr University Bochum Foundation will usually decide on your application within six weeks. Please send us your funding application by e-mail: rub-stiftung@rub.de.

Submit application
The Ruhr University Bochum Foundation would like to award its funding as unbureaucratically as possible. Nevertheless, we need some formalities:

Cover letter: Contact details of the applicant, signature of the applicant, contact details of the contact person, bank details (IBAN and BIC), financial center, purpose of use, proof of non-profit status (notice of exemption) if applicable.
Application text: Max. one DIN A4 page.
Cost plan: List of expected income and expenditure.

Please send us your application only by e-mail and as a PDF file. (Please do not send us Excel spreadsheets, Word files, etc.). Postal applications will not be considered)

Proof of use
Simply send us your proof of use by e-mail in a PDF file. (Please do not send us any Excel spreadsheets, Word files etc.. Postal proof of use will not be considered) We expect your proof of use unsolicited two weeks after the implementation of your project - at the latest by December 31, 2023. You have not used all of the Ruhr University Bochum Foundation's funding? Then please transfer the unspent funds back to the Ruhr University Bochum Foundation by December 31, 2023 at the latest.
