The Makers in Residence

  • Concept: “Makers in Residence” invites outstanding specialized researchers to carry out their projects at the Makerspace, such as developing medical plastic products with a focus on recycling.
  • Selection process: A multi-stage application process selects the most promising candidates.
  • Objective: To foster interdisciplinary knowledge and technology transfer on sustainability in healthcare.
  • Funded by: Donor Community of Sparkasse Vest Recklinghausen

  • Event: Torch Relay for the World University Games

Science Education for Young People – Alfried Krupp Student Science Lab

(“Alfried Krupp-Schülerlabor der Wissenschaften”)

  • Supported by: The Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation
  • Concept: A unique student science lab that unites the efforts of all faculties, offering around 100 hands-on projects for students from grade 5 onwards.
  • Functions: A training and learning center for trainee teachers, a professional development hub for in-service teachers, a research facility

Talent Development – The Deutschlandstipendium

  • Partners: Companies, foundations, private individuals, and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (“Bundesministerium für
    ­Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt”, BMFTR).
  • Funding principle: An annual grant of 1,800 euros (matched by the federal government to 3,600 euros) or individual donations.
  • Target group: High-achieving and socially engaged students from all 21 faculties at RUB
  • Benefits for sponsors: Direct engagement with talented students, enhanced visibility for their commitment, and support for equal opportunities.
