UniverCity Bochum
Unique in Germany, UniverCity is a network of 12 partners, those including seven universities and the city of Bochum, which joined forces more than ten years ago. Together, they are committed to increasing public awareness and the appeal of the science and education hub Bochum.
It is a place where approx. 57,000 people from all over the word study. Thus, Bochum is the stronghold of knowledge in the Ruhr Metropolis.
Knowledge, Change, Belonging
The university town Bochum is an integral element of the city’s strategy for 2030 that is expressed by its slogan “Wissen, Wandel, Wir-Gefühl” (a feeling of knowledge, change, belonging). Having established itself as a talent pool in the Ruhr area, Bochum has been strategically expanding its role by interlinking knowledge and labour, and will continue to do so in the upcoming years. Knowledge labour generates new jobs and new networks in the city. This, in turn, strengthens production, craft, trade, and services.
