Sustainable energy
In order not to batten the energy consumption on the environment, RUB has switched to green electricity.
For operating buildings and research facilities, RUB needs per year about as much electricity as 18,500 regular households. In order to keep the power ecological, the university has switched to green electricity and uses only hydroelectric power.
Greener warmth
With combined heat and power, RUB starts into a cleaner future: In the vulture a power plant close to campus will provide RUB and the district Querenburg with eco-friendly energy. Thereby, the university converts itself into asustainable electricity supplier. The new CHP plant is operated by Unique Wärme, a company in which RUB and Stadtwerke Bochum each hold a 50 percent share.
