UNIC Open Online Courses – Virtual Studying with Partners

All universities offer virtual teaching and learning opportunities as part of the UNIC Open Online Courses, which can also be attended by students from other universities. These courses offer a unique opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow students from all over Europe, to get to know new teaching styles and learning methods and to choose courses from a wide range of courses offered by the ten UNIC partners. For inquiries regarding the recognition of courses, students should contact their own faculty (e.g. examination office, student advisory service).

Erasmus Stays at the UNIC Partner Universities

RUB students can spend semesters abroad or shorter study and research stays at UNIC partner universities, depending on their subject. To find out which Erasmus exchange agreements exist, students should contact the Erasmus contact person in their faculty or visit the International Office website directly.

Internships in UNIC

As part of UNIC, students have the opportunity to gain valuable professional and personal experience through international internships. These internships abroad can be financed by Erasmus and can be completed in one of the UNIC universities, city administrations or in companies and organizations in one of the UNIC partner cities. Internships can either have a research or practical focus or combine both and contribute to final theses, for example.

Once you have secured an internship, you can apply for Erasmus internship funding at the RUB International Office.

Master's Degree Programs

Together with seven other UNIC universities, Ruhr University Bochum offers two innovative international UNIC Master's programs. The study programme Superdiversity in Education, Organizations and Society (SEOS) deals with superdiversity in education, organizations and society, while the Master's programme Redesigning the Post-Industrial City (RePIC) deals with the design of post-industrial cities. The UNIC Master's programs enable students to gain a broad international perspective and a variety of exchange experiences. Upon successful completion of a UNIC Master's program, students receive a degree from eight universities.

Research Stays and Theses

The UNIC network offers numerous opportunities to get a taste of international research during your studies.

In particular, the close cooperation with the UNIC cities offers a wide range of perspectives for linking final theses to topics and challenges of post-industrial cities. The RUB-UNIC team is happy to support you with contacts to partner universities and UNIC cities.

For suitable topics, there is the possibility of receiving travel cost support for short-term stays for final theses.

Longer stays can be combined with internships if necessary and supported with Erasmus+ funds. Internships can have a research and/or practical focus.

Online Language Modules

Ruhr University Bochum students can take online language modules free of charge to learn the basics in the languages of the various UNIC partner universities. All language modules are designed for beginners. They are digital self-study modules in which entire modules can be completed or individual content can be learned according to interest.
