Networks on campus encompass institutions such as Research School and Research Departments.
Ruhr University Bochum covers a wide range of disciplines, which is rare in Germany. Thanks to its flexible knowledge networks, the university continuously explores new fields of research and provides speedy responses to topical questions.
This is true for scientific questions as well as for matters pertaining to governance; here, Ruhr University taps into the know-how of preferably all actors to successfully implement ongoing modernization and control processes.
Science Hubs
The main research areas at Ruhr University Bochum are organized in interdisciplinary and innovative Science Hubs. These dynamic hubs network not only with each other, but also internationally to form larger research consortia and clusters. In this way, overarching issues can be researched with even greater depth and breadth. Ruhr University offers the following Science and Humanities Hubs:

Research School
The cross-university Research School brings PhD students from all 21 faculties together and adds value to their PhD research. The Research School was funded in the first round of the Excellence Initiative 2006. Since then, it has cemented its position as an established and successful network. The Research School’s “Research Around the World Programme” supports the international activities of PhD students to build up international networks at an early stage.
