Mentoring programmes for executives

Experienced colleagues share their expertise with new employees, helping them identify the most important issues and showing them how to confidently master challenges. As a result, the mentoring programmes from Ruhr University develop the careers of new executives in a manner tailor-cut to meet their individual requirements.

Junior Faculty Mentoring

Target group: Junior professors with and without tenure track

The first appointment to a junior professorship brings comprehensive development opportunities, but also a multitude of new tasks. Mentoring can help you to transition into the professorial role while also settling in at Ruhr University Bochum . In a confidential exchange with an experienced colleague, you reflect on your new role and your handling of the professorial task portfolio and benefit from the research and leadership experience of your mentor. For tenure-track professors, we look for a mentor from another department. For junior professors without tenure track, support by external mentors is also possible.

„BerufBar“ peer support

Target group: Advanced female postdocs and non-tenured professors

The „future female professors‘ bar“ offers an informal networking opportunity for advanced, non-tenured female researchers aiming for tenure. At brown bag lunches with varying focus topics, you can exchange tips and experiences and seek advice from colleagues with a similar level of experience. Issues regarding equal opportunities in research will play a particular role. You can adjust your attendance to your current needs and time budget.
