Mentoring is a career development tool suited to advance equal opportunities as well as personal and professional skills development and reflexivity. Ruhr Universität offers mentoring programmes with varying time frames, levels of structuring, and training to mentees at different career stages. The highest degree of internal structuring can be found in Mentoring³. As mentees proceed in their academic careers, structuring frameworks and mandatory events are reduced.

What is mentoring?

Mentoring implies a non-hierarchic relationship between an experienced person (mentor) and a less experienced person (mentee) for a certain period of time. The mentor supports the mentee’s personal and professional development by sharing her or his experience and knowledge with the mentee and by welcoming them into professional networks.
